With winter’s chill blasting much of North America, it’s good to recall some great warm-weather rides, like this trans-Canada trip from last summer:

Ken Barrie of Bowmanville, Ontario, Canada, wrote to the Victory Mailbag to say he took a fantastic trip last summer on his then-new Cross Country Tour. As the accompanying photo attests, it was a ride that included spectacular scenery.

“This is me sitting on my 2012 Cross Country Tour, admiring the mountains on the Duffy Highway north of Whistler, British Columbia,” Ken wrote.

“A buddy and I did a 12,500-km ride from southern Ontario to Vancouver Island and return. The Cross Country Tour ran perfectly the entire ride and is the most comfortable bike I have every ridden.

“Weather protection is fantastic as we had temperatures from 4C to 38C and I was never uncomfortable, listening to my tunes from my iPod on the great sound system.

“I bought the bike from Spoiled Sports Victory in Bowmanville, Ontario, in mid-April. We left on the ride near the end of May and got back home on July 3.

“Can't wait to go again next summer.”

Enjoy the ride, Ken.
