Victory Drag Racers Dave Koehmstedt and Mike “Jethro” Pearce ran strong on the
American Motorcycle Racing Assn. (AMRA) circuit this past summer, earning top-five spots in final points standings while competing against fields of Harley-Davidsons.
Dave and Jethro, both of whom run as privateers, have raced on the AMRA circuit for several years, and Dave won the Pro Eliminator points title in 2011.
In the five-race 2012 AMRA season, Mike’s best showing was in the V Mod class, where he finished third in points.
Dave’s best 2012 finish was in Modified, where he finished fourth in points while Jethro was eighth. Jethro also finished 12th in Pro Gas points.
Dave’s final positions in other race classes in 2012 were: Eighth in Super Pro, 12th in Pro Eliminator, 15th in Eliminator, and 16th in Street Eliminator.
Obviously, both Victory racers run in several classes, and Jethro said Dave’s weekend performances were especially impressive. “Dave ran every class at every national event,” Jethro said. “That’s five classes on one bike with one motor! That shows you what kind of stuff he builds. One bike, one motor in five classes at every national event!”
Dave did the same thing during his title-winning 2011 season. He does all his own tuning at the performance company he owns and operates in Milan, Indiana,
PsychoMotive Racing Technology. PMRT specializes in Victory performance products and tuning.
Jethro, a Georgia Victory rider and drag racer, followed the AMRA season by competing recently in Valdosta, Georgia, at an invitational event traditionally known as the Manufacturers Cup. He said he had a good season and is optimistic about achieving even better results in 2013. Look for him and Dave to compete against the fields of Harley racers on the AMRA circuit again next season.
